Celebration of Sisterhood 2019

This morning I woke up more thankful than I ever have been — thankful for all the things we take for granted like breathing and mobility, but also those things we don’t give much attention during our waking hours. The dreams that swirl around in our heads are important. Not only are they important, they’re the building blocks of innovation, and the DNA of your uniqueness can turn an ordinary idea or practice into something extraordinary — just because God has planned it for you all along. Have you thanked him yet for those dreams that you haven’t yet acted on?

Often times, we dream impossible dreams and leave them in our heads to swirl around until someone else turns a similar ordinary idea or practice into something extraordinary. Then we say that So-and-so stole our idea. “Look at these notes in my journal. Clearly, I thought of that back in 2006.” Clearly you did, but your faith in that idea needed feet. Someone else took their faith in that God-given idea and dipped their toes into the waters of uncertainty. Lo and behold, those in need of her product or service were swimming around aimlessly until she arrived with what they all desperately wanted. So-and-So did not steal your idea. Unless she had opportunity and access to the journal you keep in a shoe box under your bed, then it’s unlikely that she stole your idea. What she did do was act on the dreams that were swirling around in her head.

May I submit for your consideration that your food truck dream is just one small, step of faith from being the next big thing in your community — that your mobile mani pedi pop up is just one step away from becoming a chain — that your unique signs and banners business is $50 away from becoming a legit business.

As a Life Breakthrough Coach and Activator, I love helping girls and women see their full potential by taking those impossible dreams to God — Mr. I’M possible. All dreams are impossible until I AM is invited into the equations. In the next few weeks, I will live my dreams out loud. I hope you’re watching. If you live in the Lafayette, Louisiana area, I invite you to attend the 2nd Annual Celebration of Sisterhood in my hometown. That was an impossible dream for me three years ago when God stepped in and said, “Do it! I’ll be there with you.” The work that I do there is what I call my passion projects — not money makers. Every cent from the conference, goes right back into the conference and its participants. I leave with stronger connections, and that’s Kingdom Currency that I’m building.

This year’s theme is United: We Can Build It. The faculty members — Desiree Polk, Avis K. Brown , and I will share our expertise on building through the lenses of vision and purpose, self-care, and intentionality. Our goal is 100 Women Strong! Help us get there. Actually, we want to exceed 100. Challenge your civic and social organizations to join us. I already challenged my sorors — the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc. I trust that they’ll be there to support my dream.

For those whose dreams are still swirling around, we’ll help you put them on paper and into the hands of those who need them. Choose the Lunch & Learn Bundle for some one-on-one time with the faculty. SHARE this post to help us reach our goal of 100 women. We’re ready! Are you?
