Sunrise Sermon: God’s Strategy

Good morning, friends! As always, I woke up with a song in my heart — two songs, actually — Blessed Assurance and Alabaster Box.  I have added both to my inspiration playlist. Cece Winans sings them both in a way that ministers to every inch of my heart.

For the past few months, I have been bathed in love and surrounded by my sisters in Christ. Last weekend, I hosted the First Annual Celebration of Sisterhood mini-conference in my hometown with lots of help from some wonderful friends who poured and watered as we all watched God provide the increase (1 Corinthians 3:7). It was a lovely celebration. The room was decorated beautifully by a friend who is gifted to see possibilities when given a blank slate. Our meal was delicious and prepared by loving hands. Our session facilitators were engaging, thoughtful, loving models of God’s masterpiece.  The attendees were a sight to behold. We prayed for them, and they came.

I served as the keynote speaker this time, and I shared part of my testimony and a snapshot of my soon to be released book, The Fifth Pocket. We all left the event filled to the brim with memories to share with other sisters, homework to complete, and hearts on fire for our Lord.

Last night, I celebrated a friend’s birthday in her lovely home. You might call it the continuation of our Celebration of Sisterhood. For the past month or so, we’ve all been reading Bad Girls of the Bible in preparation for our party discussion. Our hostess did the mostest — from the activities to the book talk, everything was lovingly prepared with decency and in order (1 Corinthians 14:40).

So now as I sit and reflect on God’s goodness, I’m wondering about his strategy. What on Earth is he up to? Why has he allowed my path to intersect with so many wonderful women of God? It is evident that he loves me, but what on Earth is he up to? I challenge you all to ask yourselves that question today. Whatever happens in your life has been allowed and approved by God. There is no such thing as happenstance — just divine order. Bask in that truth and seek him in discerning his strategy. Then, and only then, will you begin to understand his glorious plan for your life. May blessings abound!

  1. I had a dream last night, and I woke up this morning with same thought … Lord, what are you up to?

So happy that your event was a success last weekend. Any videos?
