I’ve seen that look on your face — firm and focused, processing and perseverating. You’re not angry or sad; you’re just trying to figure it all out — whatever IT is. You vacillate between processing and peace 20 – 30 times each day, and at night, you sleep well. Some nights you don’t know whether you fell asleep or passed out. All those hours of mental toil is exhausting. All those thoughts are your connection to the one who put them there.
O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
3 You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
4 Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
5 You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.
Psalm 139: 1-6
Sometimes I wonder how he does it! Even those silent prayers and thoughts that I tuck deep inside my heart find their way to him. How does he do that? I guess it’s just one more mysterious God Thing that is too complex for me to understand. Simply put, he’s a mind reader. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
Earlier today as I was driving home, my theme song for the year came on the radio, and it’s always right on time. It’s a subtle reminder from God that he’s at work when I sometimes forget that I don’t have to figure everything out on my own.
That song is “God Is On The Move” by 7eventh Time Down. I featured it in a Music Monday post a while back, and interestingly enough, I referenced Psalm 139 in that post. See, I’ve been camped out in that Psalm for quite some time. I thought it had only been a couple of weeks, but it’s been since September 2016.
Beautiful campground, Michelle! ~Mitch Teemley
Apparently, I’m not the only one who has been camping at this site. I ran across Mitch Teemley’s post yesterday, and he was a couple cabins away retelling a story about running away as a child. Mitch referenced verses 7-10.
Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
9 If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.
The lesson in all this is simple. God is with you always — in your thoughts and in your heart. Even when you attempt to flee from his presence because you’re angry or just being downright bratty, he’s right there with you, ready to hem you in, before and behind and welcome his prodigal one back into the fold.
May blessings abound! <3

I love that. Thank you for your post.
Thanks so much for this post! So fun to realize that God is interested in our details. I have had that happen where I have stored little prayers in my heart, and He Always finds them.. Amazing.
Don’t you just love him? We can’t hide a thing from him — even those “to do” lists that we tuck away. He always sees them. Thanks for stopping by, Vicki. 😀
Verses 9 and 10 in the NIV say, “If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” That’s the verse I said to myself the two years we lived in England. God was listening to me then, and I know he hears me now. What a magnificent God we have!
It’s always comforting to know and be reminded He never leaves or forsake us.
Just what I needed to hear today. After a whirlwind trip to Seattle, I’m almost to exhausted to think.
I hope you enjoyed your trip!
It was, just exhausting!
You are absolutely right, He is a mind reader, that’s just another great thing about Him. Another great thing, because He is a mind reader and knows it all, we can be as bare bones honest with Him because He already knows it all, and He STILL loves us, even knowing all our deepest thoughts, flaws, feelings, etc. That is the most freeing thing ever. Thank you for the post:) God Bless you 🙂
I love that term…bare bones honest! So true. 😊
Thank God He is!! Beautiful Michelle!! Have a fabulous weekend. xo
