This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad about that. Whether it’s sunny or cloudy wherever you are, know that God is watching over you. My verse of the day is one I know well. I’ve turned to it many times over the course of the last few years. It’s blessed assurance that God the Father loves me and protects me.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. ~Psalm 18:2
That’s a promise from the only one who does not break promises. You can read it again and again, and the promise will remain the same. I’m so grateful that he is on the throne. Many of us are concerned about the state of our nation in the United States with an election season filled with vitriol. Even our children are anxious about what might happen. It’s heartbreaking to talk to middle school kids who are worried about this election. It’s even more heartbreaking when I know that they are not connected to the King of Kings.
Carve out a little time for God all week. Put it on your calendar. We schedule everything else. Spend a little time in prayer and ask for the right words to comfort your children, and pray a prayer of comfort for yourselves. Rest assured that no matter who is elected, God is still on the throne. Rest assured that his will, will be done. Rest assured that the only just ruler has the whole world in the palm of his hands.
May blessings abound!
Wishing you a lovely and blessed Sunday, Michelle. 🙂
Thanks, sweet friend…wishing you the same. <3
One of my favorite songs starts with those very words. Have a great one 🙂
Really? The words Sunday sunshine?
Thanks for sharing…We get so busy with life that sometimes we put God on the back burner. I really need to take time out to spend with God before my day starts and even when it ends.
So true, Ashlee. We get so busy with the business of the day and sometimes forget about the one who gave us life to begin with. It’s a good practice to start and end your day with God. Best wishes! <3
This is so true. Our pastor preached a message entitles ‘In God We Trust’ for this very reason. I schedule my quiet time with God every morning and it helps me to put first things first. Many Blessing!
Smart lady! It’s all about priorities. If God is the center of your life, you will make time for him. <3
Thanks for this post reminding us of the greatness and gift each day is when starting our day with God!
Thanks so much for reading. Each day is indeed a gift. <3
This is important and I know a few people who need to read this. A great reminder.
Thank you. Feel free to share it.
Great reminder, Michelle! I am very anxious and nervous about Tuesday’s election. I can’t believe the day has come to elect our new president. But I am so happy to see your post to encourage me to remember to keep my focus on God. He never breaks a promise because He is perfect and true. Thank you for this!
Jennifer, I think that many of us are anxiously awaiting Tuesday and the aftermath. Either way, God is still on the throne, so we’re in good hands. <3
Thank you for such a motivational post and have a wonderful day!

Thanks, Adeola! Enjoy your day as well, Diva. <3
Thank you for the inspirational and amazing words of encouragement.
Have a wonderful week.
And this is the precise reason I’m not concerned about it! God’s got this election and His work will be revealed.
LaToya, we’re in good hands, Sister. <3
Happy Sunday! Yes, so many are concerned about the election, but God is in charge.
I’m expecting God to do something big. He will show us that he is still on the throne.
What a great way to end the weekend. A word. The election is important, but I agree that it has been pretty consuming and taxing on a lot of people, including me.
It bothers me that we have allowed these people to keep us from enjoying these last few months. Now that we have a new president elect, we need to breathe a sigh of relief and continue to pray. Many are unhappy, but this is our reality. I take comfort in God’s plan. <3
Thank you! My mind has been blown. We may never see an election season quite like this one in our lifetime.
You are so right. We do make time for so much else and I want to give more time to God. Thanks for reminding me that I should…I want to be more consistent with my prayer to him.
We can all do better…glad this post resonated with you, Kiwi. <3
Bless you. I really needed this encouraging word today. I have been spending a lot more time with God and things are beginning to look up.
Praise God! He wants is for us to draw close to him.
