A Little Ray of Hope

One of my favorite verses comes from the Book of John. It’s comforting and 100% true.

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. ~John 15:16

As I unpack this verse, I realize that God chose me (and you) before we were even conceived to do exactly what we’re doing. Even the circuitous route to where you are now was part of his divine plan.

He also calls us to go out and bear fruit — use our gifts to serve others and make this world a better place. I used to think that I couldn’t do certain things because someone else had already thought of it and is doing it well.  What God spoke to me through my Coach is that others may in fact be doing that one thing, but they can’t possibly do it the way that I will. All I have to do is ask, and he will send me the resources to nurture and cultivate the seed I’ve sown so that it will bear fruit. I’m seeing the fruits of my labor even now, and this is just the beginning.

Think about your life and purpose. What is it that God has appointed you to do that no one else can do? Step away from naysayers and your own negative self talk, and accept this appointment. Only God has the power to promote and appoint, and he chose you.

Scroll down and join me in the comments. What is it that God has appointed you to do that no one else can do quite like you can?

  1. There are many others that do what I do…but none do it exactly the same as I. I’m so grateful that others have the same calling…but also that GOD has given each of us a different approach to do it. I want other to know GOD, and I hope that what I do brings them to that knowing. 🙂

  2. You give me reasons to like your posts every day. Such inspiring words encourages me. There might be billions doing the same thing but it can never be like me. I love to write, to coach and teach. I love to talk to people, to listen and to help them.

  3. That we should go and bear fruit…it’s so easy sometimes to forget that we all have within us the ability to create and provide in some way. We can’t ever forget that. As a creative and freelance writer, I can never forget that. Great post! Short, yet to the point.

  4. I struggled with this for a long time because my strongest spiritual gift is wisdom. As a young person, a woman, and mom who left corporate to raise a family I didn’t know how I fit into the overall picture of thought leadership. Now I know, and I’m living in it.

    1. Great perspective! Leadership does indeed begin with HIM. Sometime just being still and listening for Gods’ voice is all you need to do in order to remedy confusion.

  5. ‘Even the circuitous route to where you are now was part of his divine plan.’ – thank you for this reminder. Sometimes I think I have aborted my destiny with poor choices and not moving with the seasons.

    1. Thanks for giving me feedback. It takes lots of time and networking to get this thing going, but once you start, you can’t stop — at least that’s been my experience this past year. <3

  6. Love this post, Michelle! The Bible verse is also very encouraging. I’ve been in prayer for over 6 months about using my talents to serve God. I think I am headed in the right direction, but sometimes I do get confused.

    1. Thanks for the compliment, Jennifer. It’s good to know that you’ve dialed in to your talents. He gave us those gifts for a reason. Continue to pray fervently about how he wants you to use them, and carve out a little alone time each day so that you can hear him communicate with you. When you figure it out, please share. <3

  7. God Blessed me with a direct spiritual connection. I started a website designed to be a place for people to share stories of how God worked supernaturally in their life and its a place to read about the thoughts and experiences of others with God. I have also detailed some of my own personal supernatural experiences with God, as a testimony to others to know that God is still real. Please check it out when you get a chance. the site is still in its infancy but it will perpetually get built up. I’d appreciate your feedback. https://truthseekers33blog.wordpress.com
