Good morning, friends! I’ve been thinking of you and how you enrich my life with your stories. One of the main goals of this blog is to share stories of God’s love, our journeys through life, and lessons learned along the way. This year alone, I have witnessed a young man barely alive and lying in my path. He was broken and in a place most of us would call rock bottom. I have witnessed many of you deal with heartbreak while trusting in God’s faithfulness and his will to be done — even when his will meant the end of one’s suffering and the beginning of someone else’s. I have also witnessed marriages, births, and a miracle right before my eyes.
Though these stories aren’t mine to tell, I store them in my heart and in a jar. I really do. The jar is something I picked up at Target to house and chronicle my 2016 journey. There are stories of hardship in this fragile structure, heavy burdens on this tiny shelf that holds the jar, and stories of triumph — all contained in a simple glass jar. The structure is symbolic of God’s omnipotence — his indescribable power to hold all of our troubles, our tears, our dreams, and our purposes without misplacing a thing or breaking his promises.
We all face tough times, carry heavy loads, and lose a few battles, but we keep on walking despite it all. We were built to fight the good fight. Today I encourage you to keep pressing toward the mark for the prize (Philippians 3:14). We may stumble; we may fall, but we limp or crawl (if necessary) to emulate the only one who deserves our adoration. Our Lord and Savior bore the weight of our sins, suffered, and ultimately died so that we may have life. To be loved so deeply is fuel enough to keep these old bones moving in spite of the aches. Remember to keep your head up as you go through tough times, and look to the hills. There’s always something to look forward to, and it could be just down the road.
Before you leave, take a few minutes to listen to my Music Monday selection by Jonathan McReynolds entitled Limp. I hope it blesses you as it has blessed me.
Thank you, Michelle! Awesome testimony, and I love your music selection. God is at work, and posts like yours help remind us of what we’re here for! Here’s a little bit of my story to add to your jar 🙂 https://askriverbed.wordpress.com/2016/09/11/a-new-thing/
“…I know Jesus walks with me, so I’ll just keep on walking with my limp…” Bam! Great share, Michelle. <3
Isn’t that a powerful line, Roo? How are you today, Sis? <3
