Soul Food

Get up, get up, get up!  No more snoozing…let’s get this day started. We have work to do. Someone prayed to God to send some resources — a little human capital, and that means you. So, fuel up. Guzzle down a bottle of water, grab some fruit, and hit the start button on your coffee pot (if you need a little liquid courage).

Today I know that God is going to use me. I might not want to go where he sends me, but I made a vow to be obedient. I challenge all of you to do the same. Open your mind and heart to embrace any opportunity to help a brother or sister in need today. You’re not too poor, too weak, too wealthy, or too busy to do God’s will. If you said the Lord’s Prayer this morning, you already uttered “Thy will be done.” Those aren’t empty words. They’re power-packed, so get ready for a life-changing experience today.  I can’t wait to hear about your day. Share your testimony in the comments.

Before you get on with your day, add these verses to your fuel pack. May they sustain you for the week (if not a lifetime).

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” ~ Mark 8:36

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” ~1 Peter 4:10

Remember that God loves a cheerful giver.  Share your gifts with others today, and don’t forget to share this post. Pin it, tweet it, share it and like it. Those simple gifts bless me immensely.

Before you leave, take a few minutes to enjoy my Music Monday selection from Toby Mac (featuring Mandisa and Kirk Franklin). <3

  1. Great, reminder that we all have a part in this play and no one role is more important than any other. We got away for the weekend, I got to hang out with my two oldest, closest friends – all of us together enjoying the Mountain Arts Fair. I was/am so happy I glowed (it could have been the sun) but I didn’t mistake dozens of people smiling back, taking time to chat with friendly strangers. Love!

      1. Officially Monday. Went in earlier this week to clean up the office, and again today to prepare a Red Cross class for coaches. Bob doesn’t go back until the week next. (College profs….they’re so spoiled….)

  2. That song is one of my favorites of Toby Mac…and a favorite overall! We saw TMac in concert last February, and he was totally amazing.

I love this post. I have been struggling today. I have been experiencing pain in my right side that feels very much like a kidney stone (I have had many of them). It is not lodged so it is best to just let it pass than go to the ER. The pain has triggered a major fibromyalgia flare, which usually happens when I get a severe acute pain. I haven’t been sleeping well and my allergies are in full gear.

But God knows what we need. There was a knock at the door and I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was the 10 year old who used to live next door and spent a lot of time at our place playing with our animals, just hanging out or because her Mom was out. She could only stay a minute but it was time enough for a zillion hugs, many “I miss you’s” lobbed back and forth. Then she was gone as fast as she arrived but it was enough to show me that God is definitely in control.

    1. Thanks, Lydia. I’m glad you like the post. I love Toby Mac too. I haven’t seen him in concert yet, but I’ll have to add that to my list. The great thing about God is that he always knows our needs. Even when we don’t know what to pray for, the Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf (Romans 8:26).Take it day by day and moment by moment. Your pain will subside. I’ll be praying on my end. 🙂
