Be yourself. The only person you’re in competition with is you. It took me years to figure this out. I wish I had taken pictures of myself at various stages of my life so that I could reflect on my growth. I could actually start that now and caption each picture so that I could continue to reflect, grow, and set goals.
One of my life goals is to be like Jesus. Yes, I know I’m fallible and fall very short of that Jesus Standard, but it’s still my life goal. That means that each day as I wake up, I must repent for all of my foolish acts from the day before. Like I said, I’m fallible. I work toward being good each day, but sometimes a juicy story distracts me or a selfish thought enters my mind when it’s time to tithe each week. Nevertheless, my goal is to be like Him. If you just judged me for my sins, you have some work to do too, so stop snickering and get to work. It’s ok though. We need each other in order to grow. Perhaps the fact that I just called you out may be the impetus for you to set a life goal that will be pleasing to our Creator. Don’t think about it for too long; you might talk yourself out of it. Ready, Set, Geaux!
Before you pump up the volume, chew on these meaty verses. It is my hope that they will sustain you for the week (if not a lifetime).
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.” ~ Ephesians 5:1-2
“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” ~ 1 John 3:2-3 (NKJV)
Have a wonderful week, and enjoy my Music Monday selection by Deitrick Haddon.
Ouch! (Roo, stumbles, hands over her nose, eyes watering up). Is my nose bleeding? {kidding – a little} I needed that check. Getting trapped behind my nose, thinking the world is all about me comes so easily, I need to bump into Brothers and Sisters now and then. What a loving, great reminder that we’re not alone on this journey, Michelle. <3
Hahaha…you’re so funny. 😀 We all need to be reminded that it’s not our job to judge others. We need to get ourselves in order without worrying about others’ disorder so much. <3
I loved the video so much, I posted it myself. Where are you assistant principal. I teach at the Lighthouse Christian Academy in Santa Monica. http://thelighthousechristianacademy.com

I didn’t judge you. I do need a lot of work to do.
The best advice to self, is to be yourself.
