Picture this. The sun is breaking through the clouds, and I’m driving through my tree-lined community while listening to Sirius radio. Some days I listen to the radio; other days I drive in silence. Today as I listened to Kirk Franklin’s station, I could hear Cece Winans telling me that He’s Concerned about me. As I listened to the words of this song, I felt quite special knowing that the Father is concerned about little ol’ me. Think about it. The creator of heaven and earth thinks about you and me. That’s just mind blowing.
Right after Cece assured me that God’s concerned about me, Geoffrey Golden reminded me that All of My Help comes from our Savior. Geoffrey’s lyrics are simple and reassuring — reminding us all that when our hearts are overwhelmed, God will give us perfect peace if we keep our minds stayed on him.
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. ~ Psalm 121:1-2 KJV
After Geoffrey delivered his message, I switched over to The Message — thinking that I had gotten my spiritual nourishment for the day. Apparently, the Spirit decided I needed a bit more by driving the message home with one final song before I made it to work. Need to Breathe crooned acapella — urging me to Lay ’em Down. I don’t know if that message was for me or someone else, so I thought I’d be obedient and just share it. We all have baggage that we hold onto for too long instead of just laying it at his feet. It’s not doing us any good, so why not part with it?
As you lay your burdens down and pray to God (the only help we know), remember that he’s so concerned about all of us, and we are dearly loved. Here’s one more reminder from the Commodores that Jesus is Love.
I love how God uses media to meet us in the moment.
Hey, my friend! <3 I love how he just finds us wherever we are and speaks to our hearts. Miss you…hope all is well with you.
Your blog always blesses me!
Shandra, you just blessed me with your message. Thank you for taking the time to read and to comment. 🙂
Love this post! It seems God had something to say to you on your way to work. Oftentimes we tend to get so caught up in the busy-ness of life that we can’t hear His still, small voice. Thanks for reminding me that I need to dial it down to tune in.
Thanks so much, Damia! Have a wonderful day!
Your word’s are a blessing. We receive our messages from the ordinary things around us when we listen. I am glad that I read this.
Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
Thanks for this message! It was very touching! I like that song Lay’em Down, I haven’t heard it in awhile so I listened to it again!
Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
Sure I like your blog a lot!
Thanks for the kind words. 🙂
Really nice post and love the song! I’m forever moved my music with a message especially those that exhort the Heavenly Father!
Amen! I love how God just speaks to us wherever we are.
Hi Michele, I would like to invite you to my blog party which is going on right now. It goes on through the weekend. It’s a great opportunity to mingle with other awesome bloggers like you. I hope to see you. The party link is titled Summery blog party live link. Regards, Jacqueline
So I sat back, closed my eyes and just listened. I was filled with joy and tears, Thanks for sharing that!
I too am fortunate to have Sirius in my car and I listen to Joel Osteen everyday on my rides to and from work. My job has been very trying for over a year now and I’m learning better every day how to give it to God. Every day I say to Him, it me and You God, let’s go to work and when it gets too much I’ll let You take over while I sit back and smile at Your amazing ways. I thank Him all the time for prior, present and future events. I love this post Michelle, thanks!! xo
Deb, I remember working in the proverbial Lions’ Den when we first moved here eight years ago. My drive was peaceful once I left the interstate — lined with beautiful horse farms, but once I entered the work place, all that peace and serenity vanished. God brought me through that as only he can. I’ll keep you lifted up and stand in the gap for you, my sister. Keep on talking to God, and let him drive. He knows where you’re going. <3
Oh Michelle, thank you…your kind words touch my heart and once again I’m reduced to tears. Where I live is so peaceful I know exactly what you mean, and each morning I dread walking out that door…next week when I do I’ll know that I have both God and you by my side. You are such a blessing! xo
And you are right, I will let God drive and show me the way!
So glad we’re connect, girlfriend!
Me too!! I don’t come by often enough because every time I do I’m so inspired by you and your writing. I love the way you express yourself and the way you write!
