Life is so demanding. It requires that we eat, exercise, and breathe. If we fail to obey Life’s requirements, we may go hungry, lose our strength, or perish. Life also requires us to tackle our problems head-on. If we’re disobedient and run from them, those same problems will eventually find us, and they typically pick up a few friends along the way that add weight to an already heavy burden.
Adults and children alike sometimes fall victim to Life’s demands and give up in myriad ways. Some over eat to the point of gluttony; others deprive themselves in a failed attempt to appease Life. Some choose to lie dormant and expend as little energy as possible while others exert themselves to the point of injury or exhaustion. There are also those who run from their problems, thinking things will get better in the next town, with a new mate, or a clean slate. You might as well stop running because wherever you go, there you are. We’re always searching for a pill, a cream, an ointment, or the winning Power Ball numbers to cure what ails us, and if we don’t find them today, we’ll just keep looking — stretching our minds and wallets.
What we should focus on instead are those things that money can’t buy but are products of living a good life: knowledge, wisdom, and discipline. They’re free, yet they are priceless.
Proverbs 1:7 states that “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Living a long life is not a guarantee that you’ll be wise; fools can live long lives too. Wisdom comes as the result of reading, studying, and applying the word of God all the days of your life. That requires discipline. Those who read one verse each day are only scratching the surface of what God intended us to know. Though it’s a good start, God deserves more, and he wants more for you. The more you know, the more you grow.He wants us to stretch ourselves so that our vessels are large enough to hold all the blessings that he has in store for us. So, as you read your bible each day, look for the lessons in holy scripture. Apply these teachings to your life. Share the gospel with others so that there’s room in your vessel for more knowledge, and as you continually stretch, you will become more knowledgeable, and in time, you will also grow wiser.
Just love reading your posts! 😊
Thanks, my friend.
Michelle, I so love that you do not simply state a problem, pose a question, or utter a concern, but that you offer a solution and/or answer that is scripturally based. Keep ’em coming, my friend. You are an Inspiration!
